October 2008
Competition Season Starts Saturday!
This week kicks off the competition season with the
Bands of America Houston Regional
in Pearland. 27 Texas high school bands are scheduled to compete. The
preliminary competition starts at 8:30am, with The Woodlands High School
performing at 3:45pm. The finals competition begins at 7:15pm (The
performance times of bands which advance to finals
are determined after the preliminaries awards presentation at 5:00pm).
Please come out and support the band - See and hear the results of all their
hard work! It's also a great excuse to put off the household chores another day.
More details will be announced by the directors this week, especially at the
booster meeting on Thursday night.
Game Friday vs. College Park
Communication from CISD: Game time is 7:30pm. We anticipate a great deal of
interest in this cross town rivalry and a packed stadium. The Woodlands High
School will be the visiting team. The visitor’s side of the stadium does not
have as many seats as the home side.
Tickets for the game will go on sale beginning Monday, October 6,
2008 from
10:00am to 1:00pm in the front lobby of The Woodlands High School and will
continue to be available during this time until sold out. Tickets sold at TWHS
are general admission for the visitor’s side only and do not guarantee a
specific seat. Based upon the crowds for the first four games at Woodforest
Stadium, we expect the game to be a sell out. All seats on the visitor’s
side are general admission. We will not sell more tickets than we have
available seats. Do not wait until Friday to purchase your tickets, as
there may not be any left. Adult tickets are $5.00 and student tickets
are $3.00.
Band students, don't forget to place your
meal order
no later than 7pm Tuesday.

September 2008
Pavilion Concessions Update
Regrettably but necessarily, the Pavilion cancelled all remaining events for the 2008 season
due to damage from hurricane Ike. Thus, our
concessions fundraising
program ended about two months early this year. Thanks to all concessionaire
volunteers who served during this abbreviated season! Consider volunteering often in
Spring 2009 to make up for the lost events and to fund your student's account for the 2009 Grand Nationals trip to Indy.
Music for All (Bands of America): Aftermath of Hurricane Ike
September 18 - All of us at Music for All and the entire Music for All family have our friends and colleagues and the affected communities on
the Gulf Coast and the Nation's heartland in our thoughts and prayers. None of us yet know the full and lasting impact of Hurricane
Ike and the destruction it brought, however we are committed to helping support and restore the wellbeing and activities of our
friends as soon as possible. We have received numerous calls and emails concerning the impact on our Bands of America Texas,
Kentucky and Ohio Regional events. As of today, we expect to operate ALL of our scheduled fall events, including our September 20
Centerville (OH) and October 11 Houston Regionals.
